**Context:**
Elie Wiesel's "The Perils of Indifference" and the story of Kitty Genovese both highlight the impact of indifference. However, we live in a society in which "snitches get stitches." So, what is the responsibility of the bystander? Should people put themselves at risk to protect a stranger, or should people just "mind their own business"?

**Prompt:**
Do bystanders have a responsibility to intervene when they witness wrongdoing?

**Task:**
Based on our coursework and your research, develop an argument in which you argue whether bystanders should intervene when they witness wrongdoing. Write a well-developed six-paragraph essay in which you utilize at least three texts, including *The Kite Runner*. Clearly establish your claim, distinguish your claim from alternate or opposing claims, and use specific, relevant, and sufficient evidence to develop your argument. Follow MLA format (the document we created at the beginning of the school year).
