John has a bag of marbles that contains 12 red marbles, 20 green marbles, and 17 blue marbles. If John pulls out one marble from the bag, what is the probability that it will not be red?

First, we have to find the total number of marbles in the bag. 12+20+17=49. So there are 49 marbles in the bag. We know that 20+17=37, so the chances of pulling a marble that isn't red is 37/49, which can't be reduced further.
