1. Suppose you are driving to visit your friend in another state. You are driving 55 miles per hour. You must drive 440 miles total. If you have already driven 275 miles, how long will it take you to reach your destination? Use \( h \) to represent the number of hours it will take to reach your destination. Use the equation [tex]55h + 275 = 440[/tex].

A. 30 hours
B. 2 hours
C. 3 hours
D. 1 hour

2. Starlight Tree Farm sells Douglas firs and Noble firs. One December they sold 139 more Douglas firs than Noble firs. The total number of trees sold was 277. Which equation could be used to solve for \( n \), the number of Noble fir trees sold?

A. [tex]n - 139 = 377[/tex]
B. [tex]n + 139 = 377[/tex]
C. [tex]2n - 139 = 377[/tex]
D. [tex]2n + 139 = 377[/tex]

3. The maximum weight allowed per car on The Slippery Snake carnival ride is 189 pounds. Your friend weighs 70 pounds. To be able to ride in a car together, how much can you weigh? Write and solve the inequality.

A. [tex]x + 70 \leq 189[/tex]; at most 119 pounds
B. [tex]x + 189 \leq 189[/tex]; at most 70 pounds
C. [tex]x - 70 \leq 189[/tex]; at most 119 pounds
D. [tex]x + 70 \leq 119[/tex]; at most 189 pounds

Answer :

Just guessing the first one would be the third choice the 2nd one would be the fourth choice and the last one would bethe first choice
I'm sorry to say that I only know number 1. Number one is 3 hours, only because if you need a total of 440 miles and you traveled 275 miles so far (which is 5hrs because 275 divided by 55 is 5). So you subtract those numbers (440 - 275) giving you 165. So to find out how many more hours you need, you divide 165 divided by 55 giving you 3hrs more to complete the destination.
